Amtrak Train #8, Eastbound Empire Builder, made an intercity stop at Edmonds. This P42DC has a beautiful K5LA horn that rings around the waterfront.
The camcorder I used is a Canon ELURA 100. It can produce 1.8 megapixels stills. Software I used is a Ulead Videostudio 10 Plus.
A BNSF Hot Z train is leaving East Scenic Siding to enter the West Portal of the 7.8 miles Cascade Tunnel. I really like this video because of raw power of the locomotives. The locomotive leading is an ES44DC GEVO, 2 C44-9W, and a B40-8W. This is shot at December 28,2006. Notice the last locomotve has grifiti on the side. According to my thinking, this train is heading to Chicago from Seattle.
Amtrak Cascades Train #513 made a stop for some passengers at Edmonds, Washington. The horn was kind of like a sick horn because the horn was behind the locomotive exhaust. But it really helped when trains go high speed, so the horn was louder then ever.
Amtrak Cascades train #516 stopped for some passengers at Edmonds, Washington.
Note the unit leading is a NCPU (Non Powered Control Unit), and they are former F40PH. Most are scrapped, still used a NCPU, or leased from other railroads. Some has sliding doors for baggage compartments, but the Cascades Service don't, because the coaches (talgo series) have baggage compartments.
Here is a slideshow from MSTS or Microsoft Train Simulator. The Locomotives and Rolling stock I got is from Train-sim.com (freeware), Maple Leaf Tracks(Payware), Facing Point Media (Payware, Unavailable), and Streamlines (Payware).
All of the images are edited with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to correct lighting and colors.
A BNSF hot Intermodel/Stack train (Z-SEACHC) highballs through Edmonds in this nice evening. I can tell it is a Z train (Mail Train) because it has a few UPS trailers on there. The unit is a not so clean GEVO on the lead, but a very nice K5HL horn.
A BNSF Intermodel Freight with a GEVO (Model Number ES44DC) Highballs through Edmonds. It was sunny and there were some people waving to the enginner and I taken some pictures of that locomotive.
A BNSF Z Train had to wait on a red signal on the MT#2 for Sounder Commuter Rail #1700 to pass by. After the meet, the Z (UPS/J.B. Hunt Mail) train got an Approach Medium Signal and started to move. Notice that while the engineer was giving the highball horn sequence, a couple of girls were screaming because the horn was so loud. That horn actually sent my hair up to the sky, Just Kidding.
Amtrak Empire Builder Train #8 with P42DC #85 was running a few minutes late at Edmonds, Washington. The horn on this locomotive is a K5LA hybrid horn. It sounded between the K5LA and the K5L horn. The horn also echoes around the town.
Here is a 2 song slideshow of all the train pictures that I took. I've taken pictures from Edmonds, WA to Stevens Pass, WA and from BNSF Hot Shot Intermodel to Amtrak Cascades with stylish paint scheme.
