This video is kind of dumb, and the joke is so unoriginal we're a little bit embarrassed that we stooped to using it. On the other hand-- butt crack. Dumb and unoriginal... butt crack. You're going to have to make this decision on your own.

gregleb0ss about what we use for material in the U.S.. Depends where in the U.S. you live ,every city has there rules . Plactic not allowed for water in Chicago ,only copper . I think cause of the plumbing unions (the plumbing mafia ) . Plastic is so much easier to work with especially if you use PEX ( the flexiable plastic pipe ) AND just a thought Copper may cause cancer .... maybe ? ...maybe plastic does
By: CigarsNbourbon. on 13 Jun 09, 16:38:59
Actually all three types of pipe are approved for domestic water; M, L, and K. The only difference is the wall thickness of the copper tubing.
By: CaromaCubeSmartflush. on 13 Jun 09, 09:17:13
Same here. We use plastic pipes for basically everything. I've only seen a few copper pipes that are for hot water.
By: 447fitter. on 02 Jun 09, 08:21:27
cool video its nice to see people giving out info to the do it yourselfers. one thing you should mention is the reaming of the pipe after making a cut to prevent cavitation or premature wear.

By: aliascraig. on 18 May 09, 10:32:29
Tony, can you solder both hard (tempered or straight) as well as soft (annealed/coiled) copper pipe? I tried with the soft copper and couldn't get it to work. Just wondering if this can be done using the soft copper pipe. Thanks.

Hey BT. What's the procedure when sweating pipes that run up and down? Will the heat and flux pull the solder into the lower connection joint? TIA
By: littlericky305. on 01 Apr 09, 17:58:17
thanks tony, followed your advise and the pipes sweat like cake
By: gingervytis. on 12 Mar 09, 23:18:32
I like Big Tony because he knows what he's doing, and he reminds me of Bobby Bacalla in the Sopranos. Especially when he lights the torch with the striker.
By: gingervytis. on 12 Mar 09, 23:17:18
You can jam some bread in the pipe that has residual moisture in it. The bread will stop the moisture or steam from running against the joint. When you're done, you just turn the water supply on and the bread will blow out the faucet.
By: nightshot103. on 12 Mar 09, 07:44:34
Compare PEX and copper for me.
By: nightshot103. on 12 Mar 09, 07:43:40
He kind of lost me there with the bread. I'm assuming he wants you to insert the bread while you solder, so that it would absorb the steamed water. Please confirm. You seem knowledgeable.

Now: THAT'S A PLUMBER !!! LEARN FROM HIM - not from those Bozos in other instructional videos who wear Docker's pants, light blue shirt and helmets ! Btw: Big Tony, you don't fit crawl space opening !! :-DDD
By: danno1d. on 20 Feb 09, 23:22:34
You need to feed the solder from the bottom to prevent a flux pocket on top. Check the Canadian Copper and Brass Development Association (CCBDA) or the copper development association out of Newyork. If you can use a jet sweat instead of bread
