these are an amazing breed of dogs! i have four right now and 2 are deaf, 1 is red and i even have 1 of the rare chocolate cattle dogs. i have had next to no issues with this breed execpt the biting. and only 3 bones on trainablitiy?? i do agility with one of my blue heeler and she completely, 100% deaf...and if you say her perform, you would even know. but they are kidding when they say that they pack a bite...train and socialize early!!!!

i love Cattle Dogs!!!! i happen to have 4, 2 deaf blue, 1 red and 1 chocolate (which is extremely rare) they are amazing dogs but trust me, the arent kidding when they say that they can and will bite....

i have an alaskan husky/australian cattle dog mix. he is a blondish color and has green eyes. He is awesome!

These dogs (not every single one) will bite your heels, hence there very common australian nickname "blue heeler" i have seen these dogs do this, its mainly when your playing a game, running around or on a bike or skateboard. they also have a reputation for appearing friendly to intruders, but once youve entered there yard the dog will hold you up in a corner or chase you off nipping at your heels. They are very loyal, intelligent, hard working dogs.

i have a red australian stumpy tailed cattle dog, and he is by far the best dog. all they need is love, discipline, and exercise and he will do anything for me. he is very suspicious on anyone he doesnt know turning up at my house. ie growling barking and pacing around. if he had his way he would never let me out of his sight. he is a purebred tracing back 35 generations, perfectly formed tough as nails, i mean TOUGH he cant be hurt. unbeleivable bond between us. i could go on and on. best mate!

I have two of them... and I don't think I will ever want to own another breed after owning these two. They are just awesome... and mine do not live on a farm. Its what others say... they just need excerise and play, which you should do with any dog anyways =). They have very intense and intelligent personalities. Also, I have never had trouble with my heelers nipping me... except my female but she is always play barking when she does it and kinda goes after my feet. Its all about training.

We have one of these in my fraternity, she is white with black spots and her name is Kudos...that dog just wants to play fetch all the time, you could throw her a piece of steak and she would just bring it back to you. I have seen her playing with/chewing on pool balls, empty Keystone light cans, crushed water bottles, and just about anything else you can imagine. What a sweet dog too, she walks through the halls and stops in everyone's room to say hi then moves on.

My ACD is awesome. She helps me with my cattle and she loves to play and swim. Keeps us busy, she is full of energy. Do not recommend this breed for city dwellers.

@portlandbands ours would be rated 5 bones for toughness if there was 5. 3 bones for trainability sounds right for us though. However we didn't have him right as a puppy. We got him at about a year and he had two previous owners that left us with A LOT of stuff to work on and correct. He is so amazing though. Such a wonder.

@wakebreakers i love ACDs there so playfull there my favorite kind of dogs my red heeler puppy died though...I remember when he used to harass my jack rusell.when i used to walk him he tried to get in front of me so i had to be carefull not to step on him and i never did he was the best dog i ever had

@wakebreakers Oh ok. Then i guess i don't have to worry about it getting fat. I exercise my dogs just about day with my bike. Im not saying im going to get one. Just wondering if they are a good traveling pet. Might get one some day.

@bluegama500 An ACD will get fat if they are overfed and don't get enough exercise everyday. There are no low quality dogs, just low quality owners. I would say even a mixed-breed that was half ACD would still be tough and energetic, probably. The ACD is very hardy, even if they are mostly a house dog.
